I've been seeing a lot of great hair swaps lately and so I figured I would do one up myself. She looks pretty classy I must say!
EDIT: I've made some changes from my original deviation. I improved some messy points around the hooves and changed how the hair hugs her skull. (Feb-19-2012)
Neat! I haven't gotten around to vectoring my Derpity pic but it'll just be a straight side view of her. Mine are more for reference and display so seeing an actual pose be used makes the picture so much more lively compared to my stuff.
You have a great gallery, lots of cool vectors, never seen so many recolors in my life! I'll have to give it a proper look through when I have some time!
Choosing a pose takes a lot of time and a splash of gin. The sky is the limit but the pose is every bit as important as the expression. It's important for the community to have access to lots of references poses and a variety of expressive poses so that all these wonderful people can crank out those funny/interesting comics. Variety is the spice of life.
I agree! For my recolors and bases I try to use side shots where the design is easilly viewable without any sort of obstructions. You don't have to worry about the perspective possibly appearing to alter the length or placement of the hair. I also try to avoid distortion of the cutie marks. But admitedly it gets boring so I've had to make compromises here and there. You can only use a pony pose so many times before you start getting tired of seeing it. If you plan on doing any other sorts of recolors feel free to use any of my designs. I imagine they'd look infinitely better in a proper pose.
Good stuff, likewise you're welcome to use my stuff.. I admit I've been lazy getting the SVG's up but I'll get around to doing that sometime soon. Ask if you'd like a particular one (this goes for anyone) and I will post it up.
